WHAT IS THE CONTEXT?
Meta Platforms Ireland Limited («Meta») operates the social networks "Instagram" and "Facebook", which can be accessed either via the " www.instagram.com " and " www.facebook.com " or through dedicated applications available on mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, running iOS and Android operating systems.
The central functionality of these social networks is based on the personalization of the content offered. To this end, Meta operates:

Internet users, whether or not they have a Facebook or Instagram account (the "Internet users") are likely to be concerned by the processing of their personal data carried out by Meta without their knowledge.
What is the procedure for this action?

Please complete the registration form on top of this page. Registration for the class action is free of charge. However, participants may choose to make an optional contribution of five (5) euros including VAT. This participation is intended to support the general actions of SOMI in defense of fundamental rights.

SOMI will collect and analyse the individual situations presented in the registration form to assess their relevance in the context of the procedure.The competent court will then rule on the admissibility of the class action.If the action is deemed admissible by the competent court, and you wish to join Group, you must, within the time limits and conditions set by the judgment, sign the representation mandate . This mandate gives SOMI, exclusively, the power to represent you for all claims and claims relating to the class action, to the exclusion of any other representative.

If the court makes a favourable decision, the class members will be able to receive compensation in accordance with the decision rendered. SOMI estimates that the damage suffered by Internet users can be estimated at €1,000 per user per year, calculated from each start of use since May 25, 2018, when the GDPR became directly mandatory for all Member States.
WHAT ARE OUR DEMANDS?
As part of the class action, SOMI is seeking the examination of the processing of personal data implemented by Meta on the personal data of Internet users and, if applicable, the cessation of those that would be deemed non-compliant.
SOMI is asking Meta to communicate the decision that will be made by the judge to all Internet users affected by these practices, in particular on the social networks "Facebook" and "Instagram".
The action aims to allow the Internet users who are members of the group to claim compensation that will be defined if necessary by the court. We ask that the compensation be no less than 1000 euros per user and per year of infringement.
